CRMT, 48 years of motor & vehicle expertise
1977
Creation of CRMT by Ecole Centrale de Lyon
30 professors with a passion for internal combustion engine research found the Centre de Recherche en Machine Thermique. At the time, research focused on optimizing combustion and reducing emissions from internal combustion engines.

1999
Privatization of the company by Romano Artioli
Convinced of the need to develop cleaner, low-carbon mobility solutions, the Italian businessman is focusing CRMT's activities on R&D for alternative fuels (natural gas, LPG, etc.).

2005
1st retrofit with London cabs
CRMT is converting the diesel engines in London's Black Cabs to CNG, thereby reducing CO2 and fine-particle emissions. This project contributes to a significant improvement in London's air quality.

2006
Purchase of 1st PEMS
Since the 90s, the company has been carrying out vehicle emissions measurement campaigns using automated tests, but in 2000 it acquired its first on-board measurement device. Thanks to the PEMS (Portable Emission Measurement System), CRMT carries out its first RDE (Real Driving Emissions) measurements .

2010
Development of a hybrid vehicle, the Volpe
CRMT has developed a dual-fuel hybrid. A small electric car for city use, the Volpe features a small electricity generator running on CNG or gasoline. The bi-fuel system and electric drive train were developed in-house.

2014
49 buses in France equipped with CRMT components
To reduce noise pollution generated by Nantes city buses, CRMT engineers developed OptimACC-Cooling, an intelligent engine cooling control system. This solution has been installed on 49 SEMITAN buses.

2015
1st ISC (In-Service Conformity) tests
Thanks to its experience in measuring pollutant emissions, CRMT is carrying out its first In-Service Conformity (ISC) tests on vehicles in real-life conditions, using customized routes (urban, extra-urban and freeway).
